Daidalos (2023-2026)

Daidalos Project: NLP in Classical Philology

Daidalos is funded by the DFG for 3 years to build a research infrastructure that will provide a low-threshold entry into digital research methods in Classical Philology. The goal is to enable anyone who wants to conduct digitally-supported research on Latin or Ancient Greek texts to do so on their own corpus using the software. The infrastructure also focuses on teaching these methods, so that users can train themselves with the help of the software.

CALLIDUS (2017-2020)

Computer-Aided Language Learning: Vocabulary Learning in Latin Courses through corpus-based methods

CALLIDUS unites three areas of expertise: information technology, Latin pedagogy and corpus linguistics. The goal is to explore various questions about corpus-based vocabulary learning for foreign languages.

Bio

Konstantin Schulz studied Latin, history, and Ancient Greek in Potsdam and Berlin (until 2016). He is doing his PhD at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on the automatic recognition of semantic relations in Latin literature. His academic activities also include work in the DFG projects CALLIDUS (corpus-based Latin vocabulary work, 2017-2020) and Daidalos (NLP infrastructure for research in ancient languages, from 2023). In addition, he was involved in various projects on artificial intelligence at the TU Berlin (2021) and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (2021-2023).
